Join us for mangrove gardening!
Why are mangroves important?
👉🏼 Mangrove forests are designated as essential fish habitats.
👉🏼 Mangroves provide nursery and habitat for commercial and recreational fish and many marine protected species.
👉🏼 Mangrove roots stabilize our shorelines and reduce erosion.
👉🏼 Helps fight climate change by removing greenhouse gas emissions from the atmosphere.
👉🏼 Buffers coastal communities from strong winds and storm surge.
Founded in 1997 by dr. linda walters, the Coastal & Estuarine Ecology Laboratory (CEELAB) focuses on the ecology of coastal and estuarine ecosystems, conservation biology, the science of restoration, and communication of science to diverse audiences.
