Anglers for Conservation, in partnership with Coastal Angler Magazine held a Hook Kids on Fishing event Saturday August 17 in Jacksonville Florida. It was hot, muggy, rainy and sticky, but two dozen kids and their parents braved the miserable weather in order to learn about fishing and conservation. Melita Ganoe and Tim and Jeremiah Johnson from the NE FL Chapter of Heroes on the Water showed up to help teach the six stations and to help with the fishing that took place after. The fish cooperated and the volunteers were run ragged, but thrilled, unhooking fish and rebaiting hooks for the kids. A great time was had by all! As always, each child went home with a rod and reel and tackle box courtesy of Fish FL and their specialty license plate program (http://www.fishfloridatag.org/).
