Advanced Teen Anglers Camp
July 23, 2018 @ 8:00 AM - July 27, 2018 @ 6:00 PM
$125This summer, AFC will be introducing our first full week summer camp designed around improving the skills of anglers who want to learn more. This camp is for teens 12-17 years old that are currently knowledgeable with fishing and want to excel into a more advanced level.
ATAC will be conducted by AFC Executive Director, Mike Conneen. Trained in first aid/CPR and background screened, Mike will lead the camp with additional volunteers and professionals from the fishing community.
ATAC will feature activities with F.I.T., Brevard Zoo, Harry Goode’s Outdoor Shop and more. Teens will learn fly fishing, habitat restoration, advanced knots, fish migration and behaviors. There will be competition and plenty of learning to fill the week. We will be exploring the waterways around Front Street Park in Downtown Melbourne including a clean-up day to give back to the environment. All campers will receive a goodie bag to take home.
To register, teens must first submit a 100 word essay on why they want to join the camp by Saturday, May 1st. Essays should be emailed to mike@anglersforconservation.org. Essays will be reviewed by a committee on a first come, first serve basis and can be handwritten or typed. Only 12 spots are available for ATAC and you will be notified by May 3rd with further instructions on registration if your teen makes the cut.
