The Honorable Bill Posey
The House of Representatives
Washington, DC 20515

Dear Congressman Bill Posey,

I appreciate the attention you give to the needs of our community.

As a Brevard County businessperson for over thirty-five years, I’ve seen how government decisions play important roles in the making of wise business choices and our everyday lives.

As a business owner, I’ve worn several different hats: landscaping and lawn maintenance, fishing guide, writer and Founder /Publisher of Coastal Angler Magazine and Anglers for Conservation. All these businesses have had a common central theme, the outdoors.

Now is the time for our government to become more proactive and aware of the human-caused climate changes taking place around the world and in our backyards. We can’t argue with the science and datum, temperatures are rising at alarming rates, and fish and bird migrations are dramatically changing like we’ve never witnessed before. Sea level is rising, and the oceans are warming.

As a journalist, I’ve documented many changes in nature and weather here on our Space Coast that support these claims.

Unfortunately, these dangerous changes are taking place primarily because of the release C2O into our atmosphere by fossil fuel burning cars and coal-burning power plants.

It will take wise government intervention to improve this critical situation; we will need to decrease our dependence on fossil fuels and significantly increase our use of renewable energies during the next generation.

By the way, I’ve included a copy of my book, Enjoying Life on the Indian River Lagoon Coast for you. Anytime, you want to discuss the effects of climate change on our Indian River Lagoon with me; please give me a call, 321-750-3374

Thank you again for servicing our nation and listening to our voices.

Sincerely,

Rodney Smith
President, Anglers for Conservation
