Now that AFC has recouped from a very busy spring, we now see the impact we had with our Fish Earth Days, Hook Kids on Fishing programs. The total number of kids and parents attending now stands at 2,392 for the in 2013 fiscal year. We averaged around 70 kids with at least 14 volunteers per event. Volunteers donated about 8 hours of their time for each event. When asked about how effective our instruction manuals, video links, and communications were, the reaction was positive. People enjoyed the casting and fishing portion of our program, but felt setting up the poles needed some work. The types of fishes caught ranged from catfish and trout to snapper and sailor’s choice.
We thank you, the volunteers, attendees and community leaders, for your time and effort in working with us this past fiscal year.
